Ancient City Bangkok, also known as Muang Boran, is a cultural theme park located in Samut Prakan province, about 33 kilometers southeast of Bangkok, Thailand. The park was built to represent the richness and diversity of Thai culture and to celebrate the 60th birthday of King Bhumibol Adulyadej in 1996.
The park is designed as an ancient city, with replicas of monuments and historic buildings from all regions of Thailand. Visitors can stroll along cobbled streets and tree-lined alleys, discovering the wonders of Thai culture through the centuries. The park covers an area of 320 hectares and contains over 100 historic buildings and monuments.
The park is organized into different zones, each representing a specific region of Thailand. For example, the northern zone features temples, palaces and traditional wooden houses, as well as depictions of daily life in the villages of northern Thailand. In the central zone, you can discover the city of Bangkok in the days of Ayutthaya, Thailand’s capital from the 14th to the 18th century.
Visitors can also visit the Southern Zone, featuring Malay-style temples and buildings, and the Isan Zone, featuring traditional buildings from Thailand’s northeastern region. Each zone offers a unique and authentic experience of Thai culture.
Ancient City Bangkok’s historic buildings and monuments are built on a 1:1 or 1:2 scale, giving them an authentic look and feel. Visitors can also take part in cultural activities such as traditional kite-making, traditional dancing, Thai calligraphy and porcelain painting.
In addition to its cultural aspect, Ancient City Bangkok is also a haven of peace and tranquility. The park is filled with tranquil gardens, sparkling lakes and peaceful shrines, offering a welcome refuge for visitors tired of the hustle and bustle of Bangkok.
