How to go to Thailand during COVID:

Travelling to Thailand during covid may seem complicated, but with a bit of organization and following the official guidelines, it’s the perfect time to visit Thailand without tourists, if you obviously have plenty of time and/or want to stay in one place.

Step 1: Apply for a visa

The cheapest way is to contact your embassy, while the easiest is to go through an agency that will do everything for you for around a hundred euros (I opted for this solution). Make sure you are eligible for the visa you are applying for.

Step 2: COVID insurance

You’ll need “covid” insurance with a minimum coverage of $100,000 (if it’s written in euros, that’s fine too), written in English.

The covid insurance must cover your total time spent in Thailand (corresponding to your return air ticket, which can be checked).

Step 3: The covid-certified hotel

You won’t be able to stay anywhere you like, but in an official certified hotel that isolates travelers. The list is available on your embassy’s website. You’ll need to stay for 14 days, unless you want to go to Phuket (Sandbox program) or Samui.

Step 4: Certificate of Entry (COE)

You must apply for the COE (the application is made online) to be able to enter Thailand (the answer is positive if your file is complete) and takes no more than a day to be approved by email.

Step 5: The documents you need

– Your passport

– Your COE

– a negative COVID test result in English, issued within 72 hours of departure

– Form T8

– Have the “ThailandPlus” application on your smartphone and be registered.
